11 of 12 – Regele Carpatilor

Gheorghe Hagi. A surprise inclusion to Los Revolucionarios? I don’t believe so. Outside of Romania and Turkey, he his hugely underrated. Often ignored by the many who put together their all-time XI.

But not by Los Revoucionarios.

Voted the 15th greatest Romanian of all-time, Hagi’s career spanned 19 years. His 513 club appearances yielding 236 goals. Not bad for a midfielder! Capped 135 times by Romania, his career took in spells at Steaua Bucharest, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Brescia before seeing out his career (and becoming a hero) at Galatasaray.

At the age of 35, Hagi led the Istanbul side to every trophy possible – The League title, the national cup, UEFA Cup and European Super Cup.

Hagi truly deserves his spot in the Attacking Midfield role, with the title of “King of the Carpathians”.
